Visited Saturday, and saw the workers going through the rubble and sorting the recyclables. I also realised that he is using his trailer to dump the rubbish and not getting a big dump-truck, saving money on my time! Hence the reason for such a long time taken to finish off the job.

Rain but work goes on
After the arguments, they finally got their fingers out of their asses and started working, even under the rain. I guess the prospect of loosing $1000/day got them worried, and so it should, as I was not joking or just pretending. I was serious!

A Verbal Fight!
Yesterday I lost my temper and told the demolition people to cancel the job and get off the land. It has taken too long, it is unacceptable!
I found out from the council web site that they did not submit for DA until the 24/9/2012! They did not have approval until the 8/10/2012, yet they had already started work on the 27/9/2012.
I threatened them with Fair Trading and Licensing, and I was not joking. He rang me back and tried to cover his ass by telling me that council staff them up blah blah blah.
I told him, regardless, it has taken too long and it's got to finish. I told him, this is his last chance, come rain, hail or shine, I want to see the land clear on Saturday morning or I will charge him $1000 per day. I want Masterton to get the go ahead from me on Monday. Enough is enough.
By 6:00pm, when I visited the site, the excavator was there. Lets hope the job is finished today.

Nearly Gone
Slowly but surely the house is ready to go down tomorrow.
It has been a very slow progress, and as I have mentioned and now witnessed, it is due to lack men power. Only one guy dismantling things, taking it slow.
Just took some photos of the beautiful termite activity in the laundry and office wall. Looks like they are no longer there as I did not see any movement, but boy have they eaten and damaged the frames!

All roof beams removed
I hope by end of Wednesday we will have a vacant land. I will try to be there during the machine work and video the event as the walls come tumbling down.

Finally some Demolition work
Finally we have some work being carried out for the demolition.
Looks like to do a clean job, so no asbestos is left on the land, the panels are being stripped manually by hand and disposed of correctly.
Just visited the site and he showed me how the builders have used small off cuts of asbestos to hold things in place behind gyprock and wood panels. Using heavy machinery before removing those tiny pieces will leave the soil contaminated. He said, with his experience of demolishing building of this era, he has to take the time to do them manually.

According to the guy, they will have the site ready by next Wednesday (10/10/2012).
P.S. I was still not happy that they delayed the process for nearly a week.

Demolition started
Visited the old house yesterday and the power line has been disconnected.
Looks like the internal dismantling will be done today, getting it ready for knock-down next Tuesday (due to long weekend public holiday on Monday).
I was hoping the process was a bit quicker, since we booked the demolition 4 weeks ago, but they had delays. I'm not 100% happy with it as when booking, they said it will take no more than 1 week.

Demolition CDC Submitted
The company doing our demolition has now all the files to submit for CDC approval. We have paid deposit and CDC approval fee. I expect we will receive the approval by end of this week.
