Rainwater tank concerns

The rainwater tank was installed today.

I had a bit of concern when I saw that the outlet was much higher than expected, as much as 20cm, meaning we could end up having a round ugly concrete sticking out right in front of and middle of the house!

We drew a string from the square drainage, which is our lower ground level, to the top of the second step, our proposed top ground level (Driveway/path). It showed how much the round maintenance hole will stick up above the ground. For me, the tank is about 20cm too high and needs the ring cut in half.

We cannot lower the tank as the flow needs to have at least 1 degrees above the square drainage (the pipe sticking out from the ring section).

If lower ring is not possible, it will be one big ugly thing, unless I place a fountain on top of it with the same diameter in size.

The SS is aware and chasing up with the engineers. I'll keep you posted.

The gas installation was also on its was, with meter installed and piping being dug through.
Being right next to the power cables is a bit concerning, but that is the location the gas plumber installed the gas pipe exit point from the house.

I asked for our SS's advice on this. I hope he can re-assure me it is OK.

Electricity & Gas connection issues

Rang AGL to get both electricity and gas connection accounts created and connected.

What a drama and complicated delays!

For electricity, Statewide Electrical, has to supply us with NMI number that I have to quote to AGL. Then AGL will provide us with a JOB number. Now this apparently takes 5 to 8 working days! WHAT?! Only then, Statewide Electrical can organise the meter and do the grid connection.

So, the people involved are Statewide Electrical to do the actual work. AGL to organise the account and organise Ausgrid to get the grid account. Fuck so many middleman! The annoying bit is the time it takes for paperwork to be done, at our computer age. Arrrrgh!

So, next is the gas connection.

Since we never had gas in the old house, this means AGL has to send someone to come over and give us a quote on the work that is required to get the pipes to our property. Time taken, 10 working days.

Once we accept the quote (as we have any other choice! Dah!) they will go ahead and organise the connection. Time to get gas connected, wait for it... 30-40 working days!

Are these companies SERIOUS!

I need to look for alternative suppliers ASAP.
