Data and Internet

Not sure how the 'Hills Home Hub' phone and data box interface will work.

When I asked about it months ago how this 'Hub' works, no one could tell me anything about it, only that that is how they do it now with all new homes.

What I can see is that the phone line is terminated in there and then distributed to the wall points we have. It also has a switch for security alarm connection mode. So far so good.

All data wall points come to the box and will be connected (yet to see the switch/router) to a network switch/router. Fine.

Not sure how they will setup or enable me to setup my ADSL2+ Modem Wireless Router, as I would like that unit to be close to the rooms that wireless network is required, and not in a metal box.

I might have to use the data point in my office as phone line to connect to my ADSL2+ MWR. But having only one data point, how will the wired data will find its way back to the box to connect to 'Hub''s router?

I might have to purchase a new ADSL2+ Modem router, install it in the Hills Hub box, connect to the router/switch, then a Wireless router connected to one of the data outlet in my office.

Something like this...

I guess I have to wait till they install it and work out what to do.

Fence Off

The fence has been taken away. Apart from the dunny in the middle, the house is now standing by itself.

The electricity to the grid is finally connected.

The main bathroom shower screen is also complete and looking good.

The TV/Foxtel/data points installed. Upstairs family room wall point needs a cover for extra hole.

Ducted vacuum outlet, lid already broken. Surely one would carry a spare one in the van, in case one is broken!?

And finally, the Hills Hub Box. Can see phone coming in and TV splitter, but not sure about the Foxtel and LAN data termination. I'll keep you posted on this.

The security system and keypad also installed with all of the door and PIR sensors. What? you expected photos of them too? Sorry, no can do. But it is a back to base dial-up system.

Still no stairway carpets, gas meter or signs of excavation for the rainwater detention tank.
