We have keys!

Today, I arranged for the bank to draw me the final cheque. Drove there, picked it up, and then drove strait to Warwick Farm, Masterton Head Office.

Giving a bank cheque for a set of keys.

We finally can call it our home. I no longer need to sneak in over the fence or while workers are there.

It is a very exciting feeling.

Then I was stuck in 2.5 hours of 5pm traffic on the way back (normally 1.5 hour trip).

Landscaping to start on Monday.
Driveway is scheduled for Tuesday start.

WooHoo!

Final days

Yesterday the stairway carpet was installed, finally!

As of yesterday, the internal gas connection still not done. I presume this will be done when the plumber is in to install the cooktop.

We also received our final progress payment invoices, including $1104 for rubbish removal.

It is up to the bank now to do the final valuation, hopefully before end of this week, and make the payment.

I think I have to make an appointment with Masterton head office to visit them and sign the final papers and get our keys. Same time get all the contact details for after handover appliance installations.

All outside work complete

Last week, Masterton finished all outside works, including the levelling of the land at the front.

Only few minor works to be completed, stairway carpet (today), and it will be done!

By Wednesday, we should have all our paperwork ready and the final invoice.

One last inspection to make sure all items due are completed, then we hand the cheque and receive the keys.

Driveway preparation should start this Thursday/Friday and finish by next Friday.

Landscaping is booked in for next Monday to start.

Technically, by Friday the 21st, we are all done, ready to move in!

Rainwater tank now complete

The rainwater tank plumbing and covering was done this morning.

Chatting with the site engineer finishing off the job informed me, and as I mentioned in my last post, it needs to be at this level to allow the water to drain to the street. We just have to fill it up with soil to the opening's level. Then a nice pottery or fountain to cover, as well as mark the spot.

The ground was also filled and levelled a bit.

Maybe something like this, or similar.

The brick cleaners were also doing their last cleaning work.

Rainwater tank concerns

The rainwater tank was installed today.

I had a bit of concern when I saw that the outlet was much higher than expected, as much as 20cm, meaning we could end up having a round ugly concrete sticking out right in front of and middle of the house!

We drew a string from the square drainage, which is our lower ground level, to the top of the second step, our proposed top ground level (Driveway/path). It showed how much the round maintenance hole will stick up above the ground. For me, the tank is about 20cm too high and needs the ring cut in half.

We cannot lower the tank as the flow needs to have at least 1 degrees above the square drainage (the pipe sticking out from the ring section).

If lower ring is not possible, it will be one big ugly thing, unless I place a fountain on top of it with the same diameter in size.

The SS is aware and chasing up with the engineers. I'll keep you posted.

The gas installation was also on its was, with meter installed and piping being dug through.
Being right next to the power cables is a bit concerning, but that is the location the gas plumber installed the gas pipe exit point from the house.

I asked for our SS's advice on this. I hope he can re-assure me it is OK.

Rainwater tank work progress

We had the rainwater detention tank work start today. The location is now dug. Tomorrow we will have the tank installed.

A mountain of dirt. Will be used to fill the low soil level at the front of the house.

The bunker hole. lol

Massive roots from an old tree dug out.

The painters were also there today doing the paint touch-ups and the fixing of the skirting.

And for a Sydney Vivid Light Show from last night.

Light at the end of the tunnel

We finally have dates for the final work to be completed.

Manhole in garage, done.
Tomorrow and Thursday, rainwater tank.
Thursday and Friday, Paint touch-ups, tile joints.
Thursday, gas meter installed.
Friday, Landscaping start.
Next Tuesday, carpet installed. Delayed due to manufacture run issues (apparently).
Next Tuesday or Wednesday, driveway booked in.

Lets see how the plan goes.

Today. Lights on! Yay!
